Introducing Evan Luke Stewart
He is finally here! It was a long day and a long labor but it has been worth every minute of it! We got home Wed night and Luke and I have just been adjusting to our new life with a baby. It is so fun and yet so much work all at the same time! Here is a little bit about how the day went:
I had quite the support group with me all day on Monday awaiting Baby Stewart's arrival. Grandma-nita was keeping track of my progress.
Here is my mom and Chelsi....we are still waiting for something to happen!
They didn't end up breaking my water until 6:45 pm. So I sat from 11-6:45 just hooked up to the "PIT" and didn't make hardly any progress. Once they broke my water things began to finally progress. It still was a long time until I made it to a 10. Long story short I began pushing at 12:35 and I pushed for a good two hours. I couldn't have done it without Luke helping me through every contraction. When the nurse would leave Hailey would hold my other leg and help me push while Chels counted to 10 for us. I let my Mom, Chels, Hailey, and Luke's mom be in the room! Needless to say it was a long 17 hours- I think I asked for a hamburger and an oreo shake at least a dozen times! I didn't know how I was going to push this bugger out...and that was before I knew that he was 9 lbs. 12 oz!!!! I about died after all was said and done and they put him on the scale- I knew he would be big but I was not expecting him to be that big. He weighed exactly what Luke weighed when he was born!
Luke thought that this baby would never come. We all just kept taking little snoozes to pass the day away.
Right after Evan was born I only got to see him for what felt like 30 seconds. They took my little guy up to the NICU because he was having a hard time breathing on his own and he had a little poopie before he was born. Luke stayed right by his side the entire time up in the NICU...he is already such a good daddy! We are happy to report that everything is great and he is a healthy baby boy!
We had lots of visitors at the Hospital- we appreciate everyone who came to meet Baby Evan.
This is Wed night when we packed up and headed home. (Thanks aunt Kate for my cute homecoming outfit!!!) I was so nervous to come home and be just the three of us but we have been adjusting just great!
Most babies grow their chunky cheeks after a few weeks but Evan was lucky enough to be born with them! He loves to keep his hands up by his face.
My Mom has come over everyday to help me out. From changing his bum (every 20 minutes it seems) to giving him his sponge baths! We have just been spoiled. On Saturday Luke's Mom came over and deep cleaned my entire house! We could not do this without the help and support of our families.
For those of you that know me- you know that I have wanted to be a Mom since I was about 3 years old. So I can't even put into words how this experience has been for me. It has been the neatest thing to see Luke transform into a Dad. He is the best. From making me breakfast every morning, encouraging me to breastfeed, night time bum changes, and the list goes on. It is somewhat of an overwhelming feeling to love a baby as much as we love our baby.

Baby Boy Stewart!!
Ali had her baby this morning at 2:37 am!! She was a trooper she endured 17 hours of labor 2 straight hours of pushing! Both mom and baby are doing well. Little man gave us a scare and spent his first 8 hours in the NICU but is doing fabulous now and is just hanging out with mommy and daddy.
